Our journey in Sports Data Analytics started back in 2015 and what a ride it has been! Back in 2015, in the offices of Aspire Academy, we were invited to brainstorm on a performance platform that could serve professional football on one side and individual sports on the other. Thanks to the trust of Aspire Academy an amazing project was brought to life, a new experience for the Clariba team was initiated and my personal journey in sports performance analytics began!
Equipped with the expertise and experience gathered while working in analytics projects in so called “classic businesses” we arrived with a solid background in IoT, big data, analytics and machine learning into a world that was still skeptical on the use data. Needless to say, we delivered another winner – a football performance platform that serves 12 QSL football teams, the football teams of the Qatar National & Olympic teams, as well as, the Aspire Academy Sport Performance & Science platform that looks after individual sports.
This project was awarded by SAP with the MENA Quality Award for Digital Transformation back in 2017. We knew this was just the beginning! Since then we have been invited to speak about our expertise on some of the most important stages of the sport & technology industries: Aspire Fellows in 2016 and 2019, the SAP OEM Summit in 2018, SAP TechED and SAP SAPPHIRE to mention a few.
With the go live of this ambitious project in Qatar, we knew we had something in hand we could expand and innovate on and bring success to other customers in the same field. So, we went “back to the drawing board” and looked at new technologies and partnerships that would help us drive innovation with customers and deliver success stories.
Hence in 2017 we designed the architecture for a new mobile enabled, cloud-based football performance solution that allowed extending into other key areas of football performance analytics. By leveraging our act-in | Mobile Framework proven in other enterprise customers we now provide responsive iOS/Android and Desktop compatible applications that help drive sports and football performance.
As you will hear in upcoming blog posts and social media, today we are involved in multiple digital transformation initiatives in the world of football at the highest level. And, we are not stopping there as we continue to develop new capabilities in this domain with disruptive industry partners and the drive of the great work of our Clariba team.
Presenting once again at the Aspire Global Summit 2019 was a great honor for me. I had the chance to share the stage and ideas with people of the caliber of coaches Pochettino, Crespo and Prof. Di Salvo. Showcasing our experience is a testament to the success of our team that drives daily towards success in the digital transformation of sports (and many other industries!). Without this focus, passion and skills of our team I would not have been on this stage.
We can’t wait to see what’s next. Delivering digital transformation for elite sport requires an elite team, and Clariba has surely demonstrated this to its customers over the nearly 20 years of continuous successes in both Europe and Middle East.
